The Presidential Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has yet to submit its report to the National Working Committee of the ruling party.

Recall that the Chairman of the Screening Committee, John Odigie-Oyegun, said that they would submit the report to the APC leadership on Thursday.

He disclosed that they screened twelve aspirants in the first batch of the exercise on Monday. At the same time, eleven hopefuls appeared before the committee on Tuesday at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The former APC National Chairman said the committee would have submitted its report earlier, but many aspirants screened were responsible for the delay.

However, as of Thursday, Odigie-Oyegun said the panel is still working on the report. He assured Nigerians that they would be informed once the report was ready.

However, the APC chieftain failed to give a specific date when the committee report would be ready.

“I don’t know yet because we haven’t finished it. We are still working on it,” the committee chairman said.

Reacting to the delay in the report, presidential aspirant and former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, said he was not worried about the development.

The presidential aspirant said there was no cause for alarm because of the calibre of persons in the committee.

He said: “It is okay; the report will be out eventually; I don’t foresee any problem because of the calibre of committee members we have.

“They are people of timber and calibre; they are not new in politics and elections. There is no cause for alarm.”

Also reacting, a former Governor of Zamfara State and presidential hopeful, Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima, said the delay was nothing to be worried about.

He said: “It’s a party matter; they are in the right direction.

They are taking their time to ensure that there are no mistakes. There is still time. The convention is on Monday, and the results can be released on Saturday. I have confidence in the committee.”
