Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC says it will stand firm in support of the present administration in its effort to put the nation on the path of progress.

The APC National Chairman, Mr. John Oyegun said this when he received gifts of food items sent by the wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari to the party.

He described the gesture of Mrs Buhari as a show of affection to the party and Nigeria at large.

“I have been involved in some of the donations her excellency have been doing by going out of her way to solicit for support from well meaning Nigerians to affect lives positively and she is not using one single kobo of the government.

“The only assurance I will give her is that this party will stand solidly behind this government” Oyegun said.

The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari who was represented by Mr. Nasir Dano said she gave the items for the purpose of Ramadan.

The items include bags of rice, sugar, beverages and so on.

The food items are expected to be shared among party members in the six area council made up of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In another development, the All Progressives Congress, APC says the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP  (the main opposition party in the country) is suffering from sins of its past.

The APC National Secretary, Mr. Mai Mala Buni said this on behalf of the party in a press statement in reaction to accusations made by a faction of PDP that the APC and the Presidency of were supporting the other faction of the PDP ostensibly to ensure that the PDP is in perpetual crisis and unable to produce credible candidates for the forth coming elections in Edo and Ondo state.

Mr. Buni said that the APC would rather deal with issues that would bring about all-inclusive development in the country.

“It should be put on record that the PDP forced on them whatever crisis it is troubled with today due to its politics of imposition and other undemocratic practices which the APC abhors. The PDP should put its house in order rather than playing to the gallery and blaming others but themselves for their sins which has come to hunt them. Also, it is evident that the PDP has chosen to employ diversionary tactics because of its inability to produce credible candidates for the forthcoming elections in Edo and Ondo states”.

It would be recalled that the PDP has been having leadership crisis since it lost election to the APC in 2015.
