Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has set March 26 as the new date for its National Convention as contained in a new schedule of activities released by the Party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC.
The APC’s Caretaker Committee’s Secretary, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, stated this while speaking to journalists at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja shortly after a closed-door meeting of the Caretaker Committee.
According to him, activities for the National Convention will begin on February 24.
“We have agreed and approved that activities for the Party’s national convention will commence from Feb. 24 and end on March 26 at Eagle Square with the National Convention.
“In between the convention, we have agreed to have zonal congresses, and all the activities are hereby given as approved by the CECPC,” he said.
This development is contrary to the Party’s earlier letter of notification to the Independent National Electoral, INEC. It informed the electoral umpire of its plans to hold Zonal Congresses on March 26.
The Party released two separate documents as its timetables for Zonal Congresses and National Convention.
