APC strategizes to win Cross River in 2019

The All Progressives Congress, APC says it will evolve strategies to seize political power in Cross River State come 2019.

National Vice Chairman of the party in the South-South geo-political zone, Hilliard Etta, in a remark at a first quarterly retreat of the State chapter, stated that the essence of the retreat was to fast tract the process of reconciling aggrieved members and to strategize.

Etta stated that,  “This is the first time our great party APC is holding a retreat of this nature in Cross River State, where prominent and committed members gather to forge a united front to win all political seats in 2019”.

“This forum also provides us the opportunity to reconcile aggrieved party faithful and move ahead to win seats as the local government elections draw near and particularly, we must be committed to take over the political climate of Cross River State.”

Coastal Railway
The National Vice Chairman expressed gratitude to Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari for appointing people from the State to serve the country in different capacities and for ensuring that the much talked about Calabar coastal railway was captured in the 2016 budget.

According to him, “I laud President Buhari for appointing key sons of this State to serve our nation Nigeria. The President has special love for this State so much so that he endorsed the 2016 Budget after the controversial Lagos-Calabar coastal railway project was finally included.”

On the just concluded ward congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State, Etta affirmed that the conduct of the exercise has given the APC ample room to take advantage of the flaws to sweep votes in the 2019 elections.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani, in a goodwill message to the retreat, urged members of the APC family in the State to unite to end all forms of communal crisis by preaching the benefits of positive change to warring factions.

Similarly, the former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba described the turnout of stakeholders as a sign of the preparedness of the party to move to the next level, which he noted was to win the 2019 gubernatorial election.

Acting State Chairman of the party, John Ochala enjoined members to stand up against recklessness and impunity in the current style of governance in Cross River.

The one day retreat featured paper presentations on “Mid-wifing opposition to power: the Benue Experience” and Repositioning APC Cross River State for electoral victory.”

Present at the premier event was the Former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Prosecution, Okoi Obono-Obla amongst others.
