The All Progressives Congress, APC says it is yet to release a date for the kick-off of its presidential campaign.
The Party said It has to plan properly for the campaign around the Nigerian President’s diary.
The Spokesperson of the APC Presidential Campaign, Mr. Festus Keyamo stated this while addressing Journalists on the outcome of a meeting held between the Campaign Council, Governors, and the National Working Committee of the Party in Abuja.
”Because President Muhammadu Buhari is the Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, they have to consider the diary of the President and a date to begin the Campaign will be released soon.
“Part of the structure of our campaign involves a presidential dialogue. Mr. President is the Chairman of our campaign council. We are going to take his diary into consideration in picking and choosing the date…But we have all agreed to hit the streets soon. We have agreed on the region where we are going to begin. We have agreed on all the basic things and we just want to carry the leader of the party along, Mr President,” Keyamo said.
The Spokesperson also said that ”the draft of the campaign manifesto was reviewed and a committee setup to simplify the language of the manifesto to make it understandable to all Nigerians.”
“We are a very united party; we are working together for one purpose. What we did today was to review the draft of the manifesto. Our candidate is not a candidate that operates on his own. He tries to carry everybody along.”
Speaking on Campaign funding in a separate interview, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka said, “Campaign funding is still a matter that is still in progress. Our campaign financing is really important. Without it, you can’t do a whole lot of things.”
