The All Progressive Congress, APC Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shetima has paid a special homage to the Sultan of Sokoto and President General Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar the III in his palace.
Senator Shetima said he was in Sokoto not for politics, but essentially to pay a respect to the Sultan of Sokoto on behalf of his principal the Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
” I am here essentially to pay homage to Sultan and solicit for his prayers for a peaceful conduct of the 2023 Presidential and other elections in the country.
“Because what bind us together is unity, the electoral cycle come and go, but the nation stays and he is the eminent traditional and religious leader in northern Nigeria.
” This seat of the caliphate ordinarilly should be our first point of call, so we are here essentially not on a political mission, but for us to pay honour to whom honour is due,” Senator Shetima stressed.
On politics, the Vice Presidential Candidate said APC was in the cross of recording a monumental victory in the coming elections.
“Our political party is a very strong pedestrian and insha Allah we are going to record a victory.
” Because the arithmetic for some of the candidates do not add up ours is one of the two political parties with the national spreads.
” Our party is the only political party that is in control of 22 states of the federation.
” The G5, the G2 I can’t comment and is Allah that gives power to whom he will, but definitely the momentum is on our side,” Senator Shetima said.
He stated that the type of crowd that welcomed them during their rallies in Kwara, Delta and Kano states showed the acceptability of APC across the country.
He described the APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as bridge builder, nation builder that would unite the country.
“By God grace Tinubu would form a government of national unity that would be all inclusive, every segments of this country will have a self of belonging in the new dispensation,” the Vice Presidential Candidate noted.
The Vice Presidential Candidate was accompanied to the visit by Senators, House of Representatives members, politicians and among others.
