Armed Forces Committed To National Security, Defence Minister Assures

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Defence through the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to pursue and work diligently until the issue of insecurity is eradicated in the country.

The Defence Minister stated this, at the Ministerial Sectoral update of President Tinubu’s Administration in Abuja.

The Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru who led a delegation from the Ministry of Defence affirmed that the security agencies have been succeeding with the help of community leaders and traditional institutions.

According to Badaru, as a result of the operational efficiency of the Armed Forces, Several high-level commanders of terrorists have been neutralized.

He said in the waterways, major illegal smugglers that hamper crude oil production have been arrested, which has positively impacted the production of crude oil and increased revenue.

Our collaborations with regional security agencies and neighbouring countries in improving security with operations such as Operation Desert Sanity and Lake Sanity within the Lake Chad Region has resulted in the arrest of terrorists, recovery of weapons and seizure of illicit drugs.”

The Defence Minister stressed that for the troops to continue to have the fighting spirit against insecurity, the President has not relented in supporting the armed forces with a lot of welfare packages, and prompt payment of salaries and allowances among other welfare considerations within the period under review.

He said security requires the whole society to participate as every society needs a secure environment to thrive, hence there has been heavy engagement of communities to assist the security agencies in providing information to rid the country of the menace.

The delegation includes the Minister of State for Defence, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, and the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa amongst others.
