The Minister of State, Mohammed Bello Matawalle has confirmed that the Nigerian Armed Forces have made significant progress in combating insurgency, banditry, and various groups that pose a threat to the state.

According to the Minister, these accomplishments have been realized since the commencement of Tinubu’s administration. However, many of these success stories remain undisclosed to the public due to security considerations, in order to protect the courageous personnel of the Armed Forces who are actively engaged in the fight and may be put at risk by such exposure.

Dr Matawalle disclosed this during the engagement with the Special Assistant to the President on Policy and Coordination/Head of Central Result Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) Hadiza Bala Usman with the Ministry of Defence when she presented the 2024 Performance Assessment Report on Implementation of Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverable at the Ship House, Abuja.

Matawalle assured Hadiza Bala Usman of the early submission of achievement data to her office for their review.

In a similar development, the Special Assistant to the President advised the Ministry to put out more data into the public space to avoid doubts and negative feedback on the successes achieved by the Armed Forces.

The Minister stated that a regional tour of the troubled areas could be conducted to carry out on-the-spot interviews and first-hand assessment of rescued individuals whose responses will serve as raw and real data to the populace and as evidence that the government is not resting on its oars.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana gave a detailed submission on the achievements of the Ministry and promised that the Ministry will do more to eradicate insurgency.

Kana tasked the Directors of the Ministry not to relax in their quest to give their best to the service of the country.
