Armed Forces of Nigeria remains apolitical – CDS Irabor

The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff says the military remains apolitical and will assist the Nigerian police in the forthcoming presidential election in 2023.

General Irabor made this known when the President Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Yakubu Maikyau and other Executive Members of the Association visited Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

“The military has put the contingencies in place if the need arises. Armed Forces are a creation of the constitution and will abide by the law and act professionally in the discharge of their duties no doubt, a good number of the military have paid the supreme price. it is the commitment they have made and would not turn their back out when it is tough.”

He added that the NBA remains a partner of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The President Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Yakubu Maikyau explained that the purpose of the visit was to identify with the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the excellent work the military is doing in keeping the country together.

Mr Maikyau said that “The Armed Forces of Nigeria can conduct its responsibility with respect to the rule of law in the forthcoming election considering the achievements in defending the territorial integrity of the nation, that is a sacrifice that people make that is a sacrifice that we do not take for granted and we said that’d be possibly a group of people that have been privileged to decode into As Professor of Law will give us the possibility of promoting the rule of law

 “The Association identifies with the successes the military have recorded in the course of discharging their responsibilities that they are proud of them”.

He commended the Nigerian Military for its commitment to protecting Nigerians as he paid tributes to the nation’s fallen heroes.
