The Nigerian Armed Forces have announced new operational gains across multiple theatres, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding citizens, infrastructure, and territorial integrity in the fight against terrorism and insecurity.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said the military, working with security stakeholders, has executed strategic missions that neutralised terrorists, dismantled networks, rescued kidnapped victims, and enabled displaced persons and farmers to return safely to their communities.

He stated that “As part of its efforts to combat terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats, the Nigerian military, in conjunction with other security stakeholders, has successfully executed several strategic operations aimed at neutralising hostile elements and restoring security.”

General Kangye added that “the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and ensuring peace and stability.”

Highlighting the impact of the renewed strategy, he said, “The renewed operational strategy has enabled our farmers to carry out farming activities unhindered. This effort will be sustained throughout the farming season and beyond.”

According to him, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North East eliminated several terrorists and rescued five kidnapped victims during encounters in Borno and Yobe States. He explained that sustained momentum denied Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS fighters freedom of action across Bama, Gwoza, Mobbar, Chibok, Monguno, Konduga, and Gujba.

He noted that joint ground and air operations, supported by hybrid forces and local security partners, led to the recovery of weapons, destruction of terrorist logistics, and support for the safe resettlement of displaced persons.

In the North West, troops of Operation Fasin Yamma (OPFY) intensified operations in Katsina, Kaduna, Sokoto, and Zamfara States.

Kangye said, “Some terrorists were killed, 28 of them and other criminals were arrested, while 76 kidnapped victims were rescued during an aircraft bombardment of the terrorist location at Pauwa Hill in Kankara LGA of Katsina State.”

He added that follow-up raids in Malumfashi, Tsafe, Anka, Matazu, Bakura, Tureta, and Sabon Birni LGAs led to further neutralisation of terrorists and the rescue of three more victims. Arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and ₦321,000 in cash were also recovered.

Operations in other regions also recorded successes. In the North Central, troops of Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke secured key locations, while in the South-South, Operation Delta Safe targeted oil theft and criminal networks. In the South-East, Operation Udo Ka also reported gains.

General Kangye gave the assurance that “The gallant troops and other security agencies, as well as Hybrid Forces, will continue to work together in line with global best practices in ensuring that peace and security are restored to all troubled parts of the country.”
