The Commander of the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, says the Army is leveraging Research and Development, R&D, to strengthen its operations and confront evolving security challenges.
Aligbe stated this at the opening of the 2025 Nigerian Army Research and Development, Test and Evaluation Conference held in Minna, the Niger State capital.
He explained that “the conference is part of the Army’s annual events designed to train officers, share knowledge, and explore new ideas in technology.”
According to him, R&D will help the Army discover better ways of serving Nigeria and improve success on the battlefield.
He said that the event would also give participants the opportunity to reflect on field experiences, discuss new technologies, and find solutions to current security threats.

Aligbe praised the dedication of Nigerian troops working day and night to keep the country safe and urged participants to remain committed to advancing knowledge.
He also said; “the conference would improve cooperation between security agencies.”
In his welcome address, Maj.-Gen. Aminu Shehu-Chinade described the event as the beginning of a new era where technology is shaping how people live and work.
He stressed that R&D plays a vital role globally, and the Nigerian Army is also adopting it to remain effective.
Participants from other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the NDLEA, also attended the event.
They were encouraged to make meaningful contributions to achieve the best results in knowledge sharing.
