The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has approved the take-off of the 114 Battalion in Taraba state to further stabilise the peace in the state.

The Army Chief made the pledge when he received in audience the Governor of Taraba State and his entourage at the Headquarters Nigerian Army, Abuja.

General Lagbaja appreciated the Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas for ensuring that security is entrenched in the state since his assumption of duty and promised to provide more combat enablers to the troops in the state.

This according to the Army Chief is to enhance rapid response and upscale troops fighting force to tackle
emerging security threats in the state.

Earlier the Governor of Taraba state, Dr. Kefas said he was in the army Headquarters to seek to enhance security in Taraba state with the support of the Chief of Army Staff.

He admits that the troops on the ground have been working hard to stabilise the security situation in the state and expressed gratitude in that regard.

He pointed out that the state shares a border with about 6 different states, which makes the challenges of insecurity much higher.

The Taraba Governor further revealed that he intends to prioritise some open spaces within the state and to achieve this, the Brigade in Taraba requires another Battalion while expressing the readiness of the state government to give all the support necessary to succeed.

He equally requested the Chief of Army Staff to revisit the proposed location of a Battalion in Wukari local government to counter the issues of insecurity in the areas around it.
