The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on officers and soldiers to work in close cooperation with other security services, intelligence agencies, and sister military units to address security threats within their operational areas.

General Oluyede made this statement on Friday, March 14, 2025, during his working visit to the Headquarters of the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure, Ondo State.

This visit is part of his ongoing tour of Nigerian Army formations and units within the 2 Division Area of Responsibility.

Speaking to the Brigade’s troops at the Parade Ground in Owena Cantonment, General Oluyede emphasized that the purpose of his tour was to gather firsthand information on the state of troops’ welfare, assess ongoing operations, and address any administrative challenges.

He reiterated that these efforts are part of his broader strategy to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.

The COAS urged the troops to avoid any unprofessional behaviour while fulfilling their duties and thanked them for their continuous efforts in securing their areas of responsibility.

He encouraged them to be proactive and deliberate in their operations, stressing that this would not only make Nigeria more secure but also ensure the effective use of resources allocated to security.

General Oluyede noted that achieving peace and security would facilitate socio-economic development and prosperity across the country.

During his briefing, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Justin Ifeayin, provided an update on the security situation within the Brigade’s AOR.

He also discussed personnel training, current operations, and administrative challenges faced by the Brigade. The Commander expressed gratitude to the COAS for prioritising the welfare of the troops, which, he noted, has greatly boosted their morale.

He assured General Oluyede of the Brigade’s full loyalty and commitment to supporting the objectives of the 2 Division.

The Army Chief also took the opportunity to inspect ongoing construction projects, including a new Army Barrack in Oshogbo and the 22 Support Engineers Regiment in Ibodi-Ijesa, Osun State.

These projects are aimed at improving the living and working conditions for the troops.

This visit highlights the COAS’s focus on enhancing operational capabilities and ensuring that the welfare of the troops remains a priority.
