Army Chief Commends Commanders As Third Quarter Conference Opens In Abuja

Nigerian Army Commanders in various theatres of Operation have been commended by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for implementing the resolutions reached at the last COAS conference which resulted in the successes recorded at the last quarter over criminal elements.
Lieutenant General Yahaya gave the commendation at the opening of the Third Quarter Chief of Army Staff Conference 2022 holding at the Command Officer’s Mess, Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.
He reminded the Commanders of the responsilities that rest on their shoulders as the activities for the 2023 general elections begin in the country.
He therefore directed all the Commanders to sensitize personnel to ensure that all those deployed for security duties during the election adhere to the guidelines provided in the document of the Nigerian Army Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct.
He acknowledged the milestone achievements attained by the troops in various theatres of operations across the country as they continue to perform credibly. He alluded to the successes yielded by the concerted efforts of the troops to track criminals and their sponsors.
“Our kinetic actions in the North-East theatre of operations have continued to dismantle the cohesion of the insurgents resulting in massive surrendering of the terrorists. This has positively impacted on the morale of troops and greatly bolstered the confidence of the citizens. Efforts must therefore be geared towards leveraging on the gains so far recorded to stamp out the miscreants permanently.
“The Nigerian Army is also firming up its preparations to provide the necessary security assistance to ensure the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections.
“As electioneering activities for general elections begin, I wish to once again assure the public that the Nigerian Army remains committed to discharging its constitutional responsibilities and assist in providing secured environment for the conduct of the general elections through Operation SAFE CONDUCT.”
Reassessing operations
While delivering an address of welcome, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Army Major General Anthony Omozoje said the COAS third quarter conference is aimed at providing a platform to look at the level of implementation reached by the Commanders in the field.
He also said the conference affords the newly appointed commanders make valuable contributions after assessment of their areas of responsibility.
“Major successes have been recorded since the last meeting’ and the briefs by the Commanders will further illicit insightful discussions from all participants”.
The Chief of Army Staff Third Quarter Conference 2022 which holds from Monday 12 to Friday 17 September 2022 affords the participants an opportunity to appraise the performance of the Nigerian Army within the period under review and make projections for the next Quarter.
