The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Taoreed Lagbaja has declared open the Project Management Workshop 2023, organised by the Nigerian Army Special Projects.
The Management Workshop holding at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Officers’ Mess Makurdi was declared open on Tuesday 18 July 2023.
The workshop with the theme: “Efficient Risk Management in Project Delivery in the Nigerian Army ” is aimed at acquainting the participants on common risk management practices in construction work with the goal of ensuring the safety and efficient use of project resources within the Nigerian Army.
In his opening remarks, the COAS said the Nigerian Army (NA) executes most of its projects through direct labour and therefore, enjoined all Nigerian Army Engineer Officers to take advantage of the workshop to build theirr capacity and develop self-competences.
General Lagbaja also charged the officers to be proficient in risk management, especially in the delivery of high-quality projects in the sustenance drive of providing adequate facilities for the NA.
He further reiterated his desire to improve the welfare of officers and soldiers in line with his Command Philosophy which is to “Transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our Constitutional Responsibility within a Joint Environment”.
Earlier the Coordinator, Nigerian Army Special Projects Major General Shamsudeen Shafaru urged all participants to tap from the carefully selected pool of resource persons to maximize the benefits of the workshop.
The Corps Commander Nigerian Army Engineers, Major General Philips Eromosele thanked the COAS for his unflinching support to the Nigerian Army Engineers.
He said the workshop would further enlighten officers on the functionality, safety and efficiency of the environment. He encouraged participants to be committed to the workshop so as to garner more understanding in the identification, assessment and prioritization of risks in construction.
