The Examination Direct Regular Commission is part of the assessment process for eligible Nigerian Army officers of the rank of Captain to be promoted to the next rank of Major in the Nigerian Army.

The Army Chief stated that Direct Regular Commission 2023 is the first of its kind in the history of the Nigerian Army, which is aimed at bridging the gaps observed in professional military education.

He noted that the candidates are most privileged to be the pioneers of the examination, which is in line with his command philosophy and the desire to develop the capability and capacity of NA personnel.

The Army Chief reiterated that the examination was meant to develop competency and promote professionalism among all commissions in the Army which is in line with his vision of having “A professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Mission within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”.

“The examination is to ensure that all officers are competent in their chosen career as well as highly proficient in their respective corps”.

General Yahaya equally noted that the examination was not meant to witch-hunt anyone, it is rather an objective assessment to promote self-improvement and career development as well as ensure that officers are able to fit into all situations when the need arises.

He, therefore, advised the candidates to avoid any form of examination malpractice which compromise the set processes, warning that such acts will lead to immediate disqualification and further military disciplinary actions.

He appreciated the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari for the support and confidence reposed in the Army while commending the Exam President and Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Major General Stevenson Olabanji for his efforts at making the preparations for the conduct of examinations a successful one.
