Army Chief lauds National Defence College’s innovations

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Taoreed Lagbaja has applauded the innovation and reform strides of the National Defence College (NDC) in terms of course packages and exercises, which over the years have produced well-trained strategic leadership for the Armed Forces, Ministries, Departments and allied countries across the globe.

The Army made this known via its official Twitter handle on Wednesday, July 26, 2023

The Army Chief made the commendation when he received the audience of the Commandant NDC, Rear Admiral Olumiyiwa Morakinyo Olotu, and members of his entourage at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

He described NDC as a reliable citadel of learning and through their research efforts, the Nigerian Army (NA) was able to carry out reforms, and interventions across the country and improved operational efficiency and administrative tasks.

The COAS noted that through the efforts of the college, the NA was able to have well-trained senior officers manning strategic positions across NA formations with outstanding performance.

According to him, the NA will continue to rely on the college for the training and education of strategic leadership cadre while appreciating other areas of partnership and relationship that exist between the two institutions.

The Army Chief assured the College of continuous partnership in ensuring that the nation continues to witness much-desired development, peace, and stability.

The COAS while congratulating the Commandant on his well-deserved appointment, appreciated the excellent relationship between the College and the NA, assuring that the NA under his command is disposed to supporting the College, including the provision of observers from Army Headquarters for joint exercises adding that through such avenues, officers will learn new techniques and be better informed for the overall development of the Armed Forces.

The Commandant NDC, Rear Admiral Olumiyiwa Morakinyo Olotu while congratulating the COAS noted that NDC as the highest military institution in the country provides strategic level training for officers of the Armed Forces, senior civilians of ministries, officers of para-military institutions, foreign officers from allied countries among others.

The Commandant highlights the current activities of the college since its inception especially the training and preparing of senior officers for appointment at the strategic and international level adding that the college is striving to become better.

He thanked the COAS for his continuous support to the college and for securing critical facilities of the college.
