The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has directed troops to act decisively in the rescue mission of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, saying success is not optional in the ongoing operation.
According to a field statement by the Media Information Officer, Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain David Adewusi, the directive was issued during the COAS operational tour to the affected area earlier on Tuesday.
General Shaibu ordered frontline troops to intensify intelligence-driven operations and maintain relentless pursuit of the abductors both day and night.
He said; “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional
“I am directing Commanders to sustain momentum and apply maximum operational discipline throughout the mission.”
During the visit, General Shaibu held an engagement with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as “vital partners in the rescue efforts.”
He encouraged them to leverage their superior knowledge of the terrain to support the troops in locating and neutralising criminal elements disrupting the peace.
The Army Chief also paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of the school, Rabi Musa Magaji, assuring them of the military’s unwavering commitment to rescue the abducted students unharmed and restore normalcy to the area.
General Shaibu further urged troops to remain resilient, disciplined and responsive to field challenges, advising strict adherence to rules of engagement as they intensify operations across the region
