The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has pledged to take the training of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to a higher level of competence to promote professionalism in the service.
General Oluyede gave the assurance while addressing officers and soldiers at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State, during his visit to the foremost military institution.
In a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the COAS emphasised that improved training is required at such a crucial time for Nigeria’s national security to positively reinvigorate military operations and other security activities with competent personnel who will professionally execute their assigned tasks.
He reiterated his commitment to creating an enabling environment for training activities to thrive while also guaranteeing his readiness to provide the necessary support to enhance troops’ performance.
The Army Chief charged the personnel to uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He avowed his commitment to improve personnel welfare and well-being.
Briefing the COAS, the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Abdullahi pointed out that the institution had recently celebrated its centenary anniversary of producing requisite manpower for the Nigerian Army and highlighted other achievements as well as challenges confronting the training institution.
He expressed appreciation on behalf of the officers and soldiers of the institution to the COAS for his unflinching support.
