The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA, has commissioned 2 blocks of six classrooms and a newly constructed Secretariat of the association for 8 Division Army Headquarters in Sokoto State.
The National President, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya, said the school projects would provide quality and standard education to the people in the barracks and Sokoto State.
She said; “This project is providing conducive environment for learning including facilities that will ensure the standard of the school is far beyond any other schools not only in the barracks community in terms of educational value system and impact of education received here.”
According to her, the projects are an affirmation of her vision for sustaining legacies and uphold the tenant of unity and service.
Mrs Yahaya said since assumption in office, she focused in three key areas that includes the standardisation and strengthening of NAOWA institutions and other access, capacity development of the association members and staff of it’s institutions as well as conducting humanitarian gestures through donations of maiden medical equipment, issuance of palliatives and other forms of assistance to the less privilege and vulnerable persons.
” All of these majors task are aimed at consolidating on the framework and agenda of NAOWA as contained in its constitutional mandates,” she explained.
Mrs Yahaya commended the Association Chairperson of the 8 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters, Sokoto, Mrs Glory Bassey, for her commitment towards providing Secretariat for NAOWA and other support.
She also applauded the support of General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Uwem Bassey to the association particularly within the area of his responsibilities.
The NAOWA President however commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for his commitments and support for the association.
The NAOWA Chairperson 8 Division Chapter, Mrs Glory Bassey, applauded the National President for the huge investment in education that would benefit not only barracks community, but Sokoto State as a whole.
She however said that to key in to the NAOWA’s President vision of sustaining legacies, she performed the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the association Secretariat of the 8 Division Chapter in September, 2021 and has been completed.
Mrs Bassey stressed that the newly constructed Secretariat was fully furnished with high tech office equipment to ensure smooth and effective operations of the NAOWA chapter of the 8 Division.
Mrs Glory Bassey said the 8 Division would always remain grateful for NAOWA’s President’s support towards ensuring the projects become reality.
Also in his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General, Uwem Bassey, applauded the NAOWA President for executing the projects which would help the school to compete globally.
He said; “Investment in education is investment in humanity, is investment in anything you think of, because without education the world is finished.
“Mama thank you so much for having this project for these children today, but with what is being invested in them the output has shown there’s more hope to barracks community,” General Bassey said.
