Army School introduces Artificial Intelligence to enhance training programmes

The Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) is set to revolutionize its training programmes with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Information Management and Fact-Checking.

This move is part of the school’s efforts to equip participants of the Strategic Communication Course with cutting-edge skills.

The school will be training students on current trends in Strategic Communication, focusing on AI’s role in managing information and fact-checking.

 

The NASPRI, in collaboration with the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Abuja, and Professor Ishaq Oyebisi Oyefolahan, Research Professor, Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), will deliver the training.

The Acting Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde, who disclosed this in a statement, emphasized the essential role of Strategic Communication in aligning military messaging with national interest, managing public perception, and countering misinformation.

According to him, students will learn the vital role of photographs in documenting military activities and telling authentic visual stories.

The course will focus on creating visually compelling and professionally delivered communication materials. Students will be equipped with skills to handle information-based warfare.

The Acting Chief Instructor, Maj Tonye Wenke, emphasized that the courses are prerequisite for career progression and service delivery.

Students are expected to exhibit the highest standard of discipline required of military personnel.

Lt Col Ngulde expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, for his unwavering support, Commander TRADOC Nigerian Army, Major Gen Kelvin Aligbe and the Chief of Training (Army), Major General AS Ndalolo, for their continuous guidance and support.

A total of 76 students have assembled for the second quarter 2025 courses, comprising 16 Senior Officers for the Strategic Communication Course, A1 Photojournalism, and X3 Graphics Design and Printing.
