Arsenal Breezes Past Liverpool At The Emirates Stadium

Arsenal secured a valued 3-1 victory against Liverpool in a thrilling match at the Emirates Stadium, moving within two (2) points of the Premier League leaders as the title race has been blown wide open.

Liverpool were without talisman Mohamed Salah through injury, with Diogo Jota leading the line while Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo were on the wings. For Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus missed the game after picking up an injury, with Kai Havertz starting in attack while Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli were on the flanks.

The Gunners opened the scoring through Saka in the 14th minute after Havertz’s rebound fell to the England international who made no mistake.

However, Liverpool found a way back into the match just before halftime when Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes put the ball into his own net.

The home side continued to push and went ahead when Martinelli did well to win a duel against defender Virgil van Dijk, which caused a mix up with goalkeeper Alisson as the Arsenal winger tapped the ball into an open net.

Jurgen Klopp’s side, unbeaten in their previous 15 Premier League games, then had Ibrahima Konate sent off before substitute Leandro Trossard wrapped up a huge win for the Gunners in stoppage time, finishing smartly through Alisson’s legs .

The goal sent the fans at the Emirates Stadium into a frenzy as Arsenal made Liverpool look average.

The match finished 3-1 to Arsenal as the Gunners blew the Premier League title race wide open in spectacular fashion.

The victory sees Arsenal move back into second place on the Premier League table, two (2) points behind leaders Liverpool and three (3) points ahead of third placed Manchester City, who have two games in hand.

Arsenal will next face West Ham in the Premier League next Sunday, while Burnley visit Liverpool at Anfield next Saturday.

Manchester City will play Brentford on Monday as the champions would be seeking to close the gap on Arsenal.
