Quadri Aruna Draws World No. 2 Wang Chuqin at WTT Champions Chongqing 2025.

Nigerian table tennis star Quadri Aruna is set for a tough challenge as he faces World No. 2 Wang Chuqin in the round of 32 at the WTT Champions Chongqing 2025 in China. The high-stakes encounter will take place on Wednesday, March 12, marking Aruna’s first-ever meeting with the Chinese sensation in the WTT series.

Aruna Faces Toughest Test Yet

The $800,000 prize money tournament, running from March 11 to 16, is the season’s first WTT Champions event, featuring 32 of the world’s top players in the men’s and women’s singles categories.

Aruna, a seasoned competitor, will need to bring his A-game against Chuqin, who will enjoy the backing of a passionate home crowd. With no prior head-to-head record, both players enter this clash in uncharted territory, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown.

Aruna Aims for Strong Start in China

The Nigerian star arrives in Chongqing eager to make an impact after finishing as runner-up at the 2025 ITTF Africa Cup in Tunisia, where he lost to long-time rival Omar Assar in the final. Aruna will hope to bounce back and make a deep run in China’s premier event.

Top African Players in Action

Other African stars will also be competing for glory at the WTT Champions Chongqing 2025:

Hana Goda (Egypt) vs. Shin Yubin (South Korea) – First round, March 13.

Dina Meshref (Egypt) vs. Kim Nayeong (South Korea) – First round, March 11.
