Ash Wednesday, Valentine: Clerics Caution Youths Against Immorality

The Anglican Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Monday Nkwegu has Cautioned Nigeria Youths against Immoral behavior in this Lenten Season.

The Bishop rather urged the youths as well as other Members of the society to fast and pray to God for the betterment of the Country and for better economy.

Nkwegu Stated this while commemorating this year’s Ash Wednesday which also coincided with the Feast of Saint Valentine in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

He said “Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season which will lead to Easter.

“We use this opportunity to observe the sacrifices which our lord Jesus Christ paid on the cross of Calvary. He fasted for forty days and forty nights and was crucified to save all mankind.”

He called on all Nigerians to pray fervently for the country to have good and stable economy.

Earlier, the Catholic Priest in charge of Ebonyi State Government House Chapel, Reverend Father Jude Agama advised Christians to abide by the teachings of Jesus Christ as guidelines for daily living.

“Today is Ash Wednesday and Valentine Day as well, it is a time of sober reflection and dedication of our lives to God,” Agama said.
