The pharmacists made the call at the Association’s 15th Biennial National Conference held in Lagos, South-West Nigeria.
Speaking, the National Chairman of the Association, Victoria Ukwu, noted that the cultivation of medicinal plants by the Association was to produce herbs, raw materials, nutritional supplements and body care products.
“Nigeria is blessed with medicinal plants.
“We have nothing against herbal medicines.
“Our Association is championing advocacy on the cultivation of medicinal plants for their benefits.
“Our pet project, ‘Project 91,’ is for the cultivation of economically viable medicinal plants for nutrition, health and economic benefits.
“Plants have been identified and allotted to each zone. The emphasis now is on agriculture.
“We can get all our governors’ wives, who are our patrons, in various States, to be involved in the planting of herbal/vegetable gardens across the country,” said the Association’s National Chairman.
