Association seeks Nigerian Government’s support on palm tree household project
The National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria (NPPAN) has solicited the support of the federal and state governments to implement its project tagged “One Family 20 Palm Trees.”
One Family 20 Palm Trees is NPPAN’s initiative to empower each household across the country to plant 20 palm trees.
Amb. Alphonsus Inyang, National President of the association, spoke on Friday in Abuja.
“We want the government to provide seedlings and input for rural households to plant in their neighbourhood and environment,’’ he said.
He said if the project was implemented, every household would be able to plant palm trees, harvest and take to the market; thereby reducing the cost of production in the country by 70 per cent.
The president further said the measure would boost domestic production, increase export and ensure drastic reduction in the cost of palm oil importation.
