To achieve improved productivity in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, the All-Farmers Association of Nigeria, (AFAN), have advocated for public and private sector investments to secure sustainable development in agribusiness.

Speaking at the 2022 Feed Nigeria Summit (FNS), in Abuja, on Monday, the President of AFAN, Alhaji Farouq Mudi, urged both international and local investors to come together and explore opportunities that could translate to creating actionable and prosperous agribusiness.

According to him, FNS which is hosted annually, provides a platform for functional engagement while proffering solutions to challenges in agriculture.

“AFAN is ready to strategically support, and invest more towards achieving the Feed Nigeria Summit 2022 key objectives, through massive investments, mechanization, innovative agro processing, and manufacturing of agro products,” Farouq said.

Farouq explained that a joint report released by the Food and Agricultural Organizations of the United Nation (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization and the United Nation General Assembly has informed the progress made towards ending hunger and in-depth analysis on key challenges affecting the goal.

He maintained that the year 2023 report would dispel doubt on the notion that the world is moving backward in an effort to end hunger.
