The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in Kano State, has urged the Nigerian Government to urgently sign and implement the report of the Yayale Ahmed-led Committee on the 2009 ASUU/FG negotiations.
Zonal Coordinator, Abdulkadir Muhammad, made the call in Kano while briefing journalists at the end of a review meeting.
According to him, “The University Miscellaneous Provisions (Amendment) (2012) mandates that professors retire with their full salaries for life.”
The union also sought other payments.
The Federal Government in 2024 constituted the Yayale Ahmed-led Committee to look into the 2009 ASUU/FG negotiations.
After two months of engagements, the Committee completed its assignment in December 2024 and submitted its report in February 2025.
