Aviation Authority shuts down telecommunication service tower

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA has shutdown Globacom telecommunication service tower over the non payment of outstanding debt of 4.7 billion Naira in Abuja Nigeria’s Capital.

The Director General of NCAA Captain Musa Nuhu said they have started switching off the tower.

Captain Nuhu stated that all the other telecommunications service providers are paying except the Globacom limited Company since 2007. He however acknowledged company payment of only 500 Million out of the 5.2 billion naira.

He said, “My Agency is under tremendous pressure by the Nigerian Government, and Globacom limited supposed to be paying tax to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, we have contacted and negotiated with them severely they have ignored us until recently when the paid 500 million and the Government had mandated all the federal agencies to recover all dept both at the executive and legislative levels

“Globacom limited is not cooperating and we have the authority to shutdown their facilities and we are starting by switching off a couple of their tower, until the make payment and if they did not pay we are going to implement our full power under the Civil Aviation Act .

“The NCAA Provide the safety of the airspace to know the location of each telecommunications service tower accordingly so that we can have flight safety and the process entails payment of some fees by any telecommunications service Providers.”

The management of the Globacom telecommunication limited is yet to  respond to the action taken by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority against them.
