Raj Aggarwal has announced his departure from Amazon Web Services (AWS) after serving nearly three years as the company’s General Manager of generative AI and revenue acceleration.

The news was shared through a LinkedIn post Aggarwal published on Wednesday.

“I’m proud of the pioneering work our team did in generative AI from its earliest days,” Aggarwal remarked in his post.

“We built what might be the world’s first large-scale generative AI products — launched to tens of thousands of sellers, used hundreds of thousands of times, driving a 4.9% increase in pipeline generation.”

During his tenure, Aggarwal played a significant role in advancing AWS’s generative AI initiatives.

In his post, he highlighted his contributions to the development of AWS’s AI foundation models, the Bedrock AI platform, and the Amazon Q generative AI assistant tailored for business use.

Aggarwal revealed plans to “return to his roots” by founding a new company, though he did not provide further details about the venture.

Before joining AWS, Aggarwal had already established a strong entrepreneurial track record.

In 2009, he founded Localytics, a mobile analytics and messaging platform that raised over $69 million in venture funding before its acquisition by Upland BlueVenn in 2020.

Aggarwal departed from Localytics in 2017.

In 2018, he launched Demand Sage, an AI-powered sales analytics platform.

The company secured $3 million in venture funding before being acquired by Snap in April 2021.

Aggarwal stayed on at Snap as Head of Product and Growth in the R&D division until he transitioned to AWS in 2022.
