The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has commiserated with Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state over the death of 23 travellers and other banditry attacks in the state.
NGF Chairman and Governor of Ekiti state, Governor Kayode Fayemi, said they were in Sokoto to condole Tambuwal and the good people of Sokoto in these trying times.
Fayemi, who was in Sokoto along with Governors of Jigawa and Kebbi states, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar and Senator Atiku Bagudu, said the visit was on behalf of other 36 Governors in the forum.
” NGF delegation is here to commiserate with Tambuwal as it was a tradition to share feelings of unfortunate incidents especially loss of lives.
” We stand with Gov Tambuwal and other citizens over the sad incident, we shall continue to focus on the ways to curtail the situation and pray to Almighty Allah to stop the menace.
” We are aware of Tambuwal’s parley with President Muhammadu Buhari along with Federal Government’s delegation that visited Sokoto on condolence visit and obtained direct situation reports in the incidents,” Governor Fayemi said.
The Ekiti State Governor added that as a leaders of this country, they would do whatever possible to assist President Muhammadu Buhari to bring an end to the killing of innocent Nigerians.
Responding, Governor Tambuwal thanked the visiting NGF delegation for the condolences which demonstrated the good leadership of Fayemi as he stands by any Governor on whatever situations they were in irrespective of party affiliation.
” In view of the persistent happenings, all hands must be on deck to check the incidents and support President Buhari at all levels on containing the situations.
” The bandits intentions and motives are still unravelled, when they attacked a community they kill at random, shoot every body irrespective of political differences.
” They do not consider ethnicity, religious or political party differences, they do not have any ideological or tribal pursued, they are just enemies of humanity.
” They supposed to be treated as such decisively, we must all rise to save the situations, ” Tambuwal said.
It was reported that Governor Tambuwal on December 8, this year confirmed 23 deaths among travellers attacked by bandits where some were burnt in Isa local government area of Sokoto state on December 6, this year.
