Banky W: Economic Hardship Drives Artists Out of Nigeria

328

Famous Nigerian singer Bankole Wellington, best known as Banky W, is the latest Nigerian entertainer to relocate abroad with his family in recent times.

A few years ago, notable entertainers such as actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Emem Isong-Mosidi, Joseph Benjamin, singer Tekno, Princess Chineke, Bukky Wright, Prince Eke, and Jeta Amata, among others, left the country. Their departures have been linked to the worsening economic situation, rising insecurity, and the ongoing cases of kidnapping in the nation.

Many other entertainers have also relocated abroad in search of a better life, and EME boss Banky W is no exception. However, the singer revealed in an Instagram post that his move to America with his family was to pursue a Master’s degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Banky W’s relocation has sparked concerns about the growing trend of mass exodus among Nigerian citizens, including celebrities. His decision to join this movement highlights the increasingly dire situation that many Nigerian youths face today.
