Barcelona Striker Aguero Taken To Hospital After Chest Discomfort
Argentina international and Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital after complaining of chest discomfort during the home side’s 1-1 draw with Alaves in the Spanish La Liga at the Camp Nou stadium.
Aguero, 33, was forced off in the 41st minute after he went down holding his chest. It was not clear what caused the problem.
He received treatment on the ground for several minutes. The Argentine was later able to walk off the pitch.
“Aguero reported chest discomfort and has been admitted to the hospital for a cardiac exam,” Barcelona confirmed in a statement after the match.
Caretaker boss Sergi Barjuan led Barcelona for the first time following the departure of Ronald Koeman. Memphis Depay opened the scoring for Barcelona before Luis Rioja equalised to earn a point for the Deportivo Alaves.
Barcelona remain in ninth place in the table – eight points behind fierce rivals Real Madrid, who beat Elche 2-1.
