Barkalam In Sector 2 Chad Benefits From MNJTF Water Project

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has commissioned a water project in the Barkalam community located in Sector 2, Chad.

During the commissioning, the Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Ali, highlighted the importance of the project for the local populace revealing that the project has been executed by the DCI groups as part of the European Union initiative aimed at stabilizing communities around the Lake Chad basin.

A statement by Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF N’Djamena Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi said General Ali emphasized MNJTF’s commitment to supporting local communities.

He pointed out that the water project is one among several initiatives aimed at supporting the rural communities, acknowledging the efforts of the DCI groups for their efficient and timely execution of the project expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of Barkalam residents.

Representing the local community, the Sultan of Barkalam , Mahamat Modu, expressed gratitude to the MNJTF for their support.

He noted that the provision of accessible and clean water would substantially enhance the quality of life for the residents stressing that such initiatives would help to maintain the peace and stability that the community currently enjoys.

The newly commissioned water project is equipped with a solar-powered borehole, a substantial 10,000-litre reservoir, and 6 taps placed for easy access.

This according to the MNJTF spokesman ensures that the Barkalam community can enjoy a sustainable source of clean water, aligning with broader efforts to enhance the living conditions in the Lake Chad basin.
