Bauchi enrols 52,000 workers into health insurance scheme
The Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASCHEMA), says it has enrolled 52,000 workers into the scheme, to enhance quality healthcare service delivery. The Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, stated this in an interview with the Newsmen in Bauchi on Monday.
He said the enrollees comprised state and local government workers, who are expected to begin accessing the services in October 2024.

Inuwa said that medicare services would be provided to the dependent of the enrollees at the same time, adding that reductions were made for three months as part of the prerequisite of the programme.
He listed the health service providers to include Bauchi Specialist Hospital, 26 general hospital, all accredited primary healthcare centers and private hospitals across the state.
The Secretary said the agency would disburse funds to the health facilities to facilitate smooth running of the programme, adding that effective monitoring and evaluation measures were being employed to ensure delivery of quality services.
Inuwa said the services would also cover surgeries and diabetes, adding that the agency planned to enrol 2,000 women suffering from Visco Viginal Fistula (VVF).
According to him, the United Nations Childrens’ Fund (UNICEF) will also enroll 10,000 vulnerable children and women into the scheme.
