Bauchi, Stakeholders Adopt User-centered Design For Public Toilets
The Government in Bauchi State,Northeast, Nigeria, WaterAid Nigeria, and other stakeholders have adopted the User Centred Design Approach for public toilets in motor parks and markets for the convenience of women and girls.
Dr Ibrahim Kabir, Director General, Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, BASEPA, made public a communique issued after the stakeholders meeting on Thursday in Bauchi.
Kabir said that the partnership led to six climate resilient designs developed for various contexts and businesses.
According to him, the checklist for approval of public toilets will be reviewed and updated in all public places.
“The new toilet design is officially adopted for all public places; we recognised the need to review the checklist for licence, operation permit, and inspection of public toilets.
“All ministries, departments, and agencies in the state will reflect the cost contained for the design and Bill of Quantities in annual budget processes.
“Public toilets owners in the state would be mandated to improve existing toilets to incorporate the features of the new design,” he said.
