Bauchi Governorship Election Tribunal: APC Chieftain Concerned About Possible Outcome
Abdul Mohammed Isa, Abuja.
An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Bauchi State, North-central Nigeria, Hajia Mariam Danjaki, has expressed concern over the credibility of the State Election Tribunal to make a ruling based on the evidence presented and in accordance with the law. (The Bauchi State tribunal is currently reviewing the outcome of the 2023 gubernatorial election, which was marred by controversy and allegations of irregularities).
Hajia Mariam Danjaki also highlighted the importance of the tribunal in upholding democracy and ensuring that election outcomes reflect the will of the people.
She called on the tribunal to consider the interests of the people and avoid any political bias or interference.
She also called on fellow APC members and supporters to remain calm and trust in the judicial system to deliver a fair judgement while emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence and respect for the rule of law, regardless of the outcome of the judgement.
Supporters of the APC are hopeful that the tribunal will rule in their favour and validate the victory of their candidate, while also setting a precedent for future elections in the state.
