Bauchi State Rice Mill To Process 600metric tonnes daily
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tiamin Rice Milling Company, Alhaji Aminu Ahmed, has disclosed that the company, when commissioned in the next two months, would produce 600 metric tonnes of rice per day.
Aminu made this known while conducting the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Cui Jianchun, round the company’s factory, saying most of the machines were purchased from China.
The CEO said that the company was into mechanised farming and pointed out that when production fully takes off, no fewer than 800 direct staff would be employed in addition to 2,000 casual workers.
According to him, the Tiamin Rice factory was built on 11 hectares of land, adding that the company had traded to the tune of $15 million with China in the last three years.
He added that the rice milling company, which has 50-tonne capacity dryer, was assembled by engineers six years ago, adding that it is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
While expressing hope that the Chinese Ambassador would be present when the company would commission the factory in two months’ time, the CEO said all the components were brought in from China except the parboiling units, which were acquired from India.
The CEO expressed appreciation to the state governor, Bala Mohammed, for allocating enough land for the company to operate successfully in the state.
While responding, the Chinese Ambassador, Cui Jianchun, assured the willingness of his country to invest in many sectors of the economy in the state.
