Bauchi State urged to establish modern technology driven mechanic village

The Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) has called on the Bauchi State government to establish an ultra modern technology driven mechanic village in the metropolis.

The Chairman of NATA, Alhaji Salisu Alin-Baba made the call  in Bauchi on Wednesday.

He said this would reduce the activities of quacks mostly operating on the roadside.

Hundreds of residents mechanics who practices the trade in an analogue manner as they lacked a technologically equiped mechanic village, They conduct their trade by the road sides thereby obstructing traffic and contravening environmental laws ” he said

Alin-baba said that members of the association will also be adequately trained in order to improve their skills in handling newly-manufactured vehicles coming with modern technology.

This would go a long way in reorganising the profession in line with the best practices as well as improve skills,” he said.

According to him, artisans have not enjoyed proper recognition and benefits from the state government for some years back, with hope this government would recognise us

Our members  comprise of mechanics, welders, painters, electricians and other artisans” he said

We have a thousands of members across the state, especially in the metropolis and that was what made many to be practicing the trade by the roadsides”

The chairman commended the state government for providing spacious land for the construction of the proposed mechanics village, adding that the village if established would boost the economy of the state.

He appealed to the state government to take a critical look into the plight of the group and establish the technology driven m village for effective service delivery.
