After initially withdrawing, Bayelsa Queens have decided to return for the Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT).

The former League champions had announced their pull-out from the tournament after officials protested the inclusion of two “ineligible players” by the Yenagoa-based team.

But officials of the Edo State Football Association pleaded with Bayelsa Queens, they decided to continue to participate in the tournament.

“We have decided to stay at the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) and continue to show our skills and talents.  We appreciate the organizers of BOWFT for their intervention and support. We also love the people of Edo who have always welcomed us and cheered for us,” the Bayelsa team said in a statement.

“We are confident that the issue with Delta Queens over players registration will be resolved soon. We have followed the proper procedures and requested for the clearance of the two players who want to play for us.  We respect the choice of the players and we believe they have the right to play for any club they want in a preseason tournament.

“We will wait for the NWFL to settle the matter during the registration and we hope that Delta Queens will cooperate with us.  We are ready to face any challenge and we are determined to win this tournament for you, our loyal fans.

Thank you for your support and prayers. We love you all.”

Bayelsa Queens had beaten Confluence Queens of Lokoja 1-0 before the controversy over the two players came up.
