Bayero University ALUMNI, Key to Enhancing Institution’s Development – Don

A University Don and former Vice Chancellor of National Open University (NOUN), Professor Abdallah Uba Adamu, has said that the Bayero University Kano (BUK) ALUMNI association is key to enhancing development in the citadel of education as members play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the great institution.

Professor Abdallah stated this as the Guest Speaker at the 2024 Annual Congress of the FCT Chapter of the BUK ALUMNI Association held in Abuja, Nigeria.

He said the BUK Alumni Association like its counterparts globally brings about meaningful developments to their institutions due to collaborations and strengthened relationships among the graduates.

“The essence of ALUMNI cannot be over-emphasized looking at how it brings the former students of the Bayero together to discuss critical issues and would enhance the development of the institution.

“AdvanceD countries like London, America, and France among others have assisted their people through ALUMNI and BUK can also do the same,” he said.

Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Sani Ahmad in a remark described the 2024 ALUMNI Congress as “a tool of bridging the gap between the members and reuniting them together to contribute towards its success.”

A former Gubernatorial aspirant in Kaduna State, Malam Shuaibu Idris revealed that the ALUMNI will create a center for knowledge sharing, consultation, and support among the members to foster the unity of ALUMNI.

Similarly, the Director General Voice of Nigeria, Malam Jibril Baba Ndace commended the effort of the ALUMNI Exco for organizing the event and promised “the support of VON in all activities of the association, while charging students and graduates of the BUK to keep track record of one another.”

The Majority Leader, House Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa pledged his support in ensuring that the institution becomes the best in Nigeria in terms of facilities and academic excellence.

After speeches and contributions by many dignitaries of the institution, a panel session was chaired by the President of the ALUMNI Abuja Chapter, Mr. Alhassan Muhammad where many challenges affecting the institution were discussed and measures were put in place to tackle them.

The Federal Capital Territory chapter of the Bayero University, Kano ALUMNI Association held the 2024 ALUMNI Congress and Annual General Meeting in Abuja, the nation’s capital to reunite members of the University and strengthen the association.

The Congress had in attendance many dignitaries across the country who pledged to contribute to the development of the Institutions to enhance academic excellence.
