The Bayero University BUK Kano in North West Nigeria has concluded arrangements for hosting of the 2025 Soil Science Society of Nigeria annual Conference.

With the theme, ” Promoting Soil Health and Resilience through Research and Innovation for sustainable Development, the conference will bring together experts on soil health across some African Countries in order to bring attention on the soil value.
The National President Soil Science Society of Nigeria who is also, the Director Center for Dry land Agriculture BUK Professor Jibrin Jibrin, expressed the believe that, the conference will ensure knowledge sharing that will add value to healthy soil for a better Agricultural practice.
He noted that, for quite long, attention has been given to improved crop yields thereby affecting the soil adding that, the conference will proffer sustainable ways to improve soil health.
He explained that, the society is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to conduct research and provide information on proper soil utilization and fertilizer application.
Professor Jibrin said, the conference which begins 8th April, will honor notable Nigerians, including Governor of Borno State, Professor Baba Gana Zulum, and the State Minister of Agriculture, with membership awards for their contributions to soil science in Nigeria.
Also, the Dean Faculty of Agriculture Bayero University Kano Professor Muhammad Hussein expressed confidence that, the conference is expected to cross fertilize ideas that will engender food security in Nigeria.
Other stakeholders made contributions on the essence of the conference at the media briefing.
