Benue State House of Assembly has officially approved the 2026 Budget of N695,011,237,687.28.
The assembly however increased the budget by additional N89.5 billion from the initial presentation by Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The approval came after a report from the House Committee on Appropriation, chaired by Isaac Ochikliye and presented by the deputy chairman Douglas Akya during a session presided over by the Speaker, Berger Alfred Emberga.

The focus of the 2026 budget is on accelerating infrastructure development, improving social services, and stimulating sustainable economic growth throughout the state.
The House urged MDAs to avoid additional spending and recommended strengthening audit and procurement processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective budget implementation.
The Speaker praised the appropriation committee for their diligent work on the budget and instructed the House Clerk to prepare a final version for approval by the Governor.
