Benue: Governor Alia Appoints 2Face as Technical Adviser on Entertainment

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has appointed Nigerian music legend Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, as his Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, during a courtesy visit by the music star to the Government House in Makurdi. Governor Alia praised 2Baba’s exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry and his longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes.

“Innocent Idibia is a son of the soil who has not only excelled on the global stage but has remained committed to uplifting his roots.”

“His voice and platform carry great influence. We are confident that with his involvement, our administration will deepen its engagement with young people, promote the creative economy, and foster meaningful community outreach. “Alia said.

2Baba, who hails from Okpokwu Local Government Area in Benue State, is one of Africa’s most celebrated music icons and is widely respected for his philanthropic efforts through the 2Baba Foundation.

In his response, 2Baba expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to support the administration’s vision for youth development and community upliftment.

“I’m honoured to accept this responsibility. As someone who believes in the power of art to drive change, I look forward to working with the government and stakeholders to create impactful initiatives.”

“Benue has incredible talent and untapped potential. We must build platforms that allow our youth to thrive,” he said.

He also used the occasion to extend condolences to victims of recent violent attacks in parts of the state and promised to support peacebuilding efforts.

“Security and development go hand in hand. We cannot achieve sustainable growth without peace, and I am committed to lending my voice to the healing and rebuilding process,” he added.

The appointment has been widely praised by industry stakeholders and observers, who view it as a strategic move to integrate the entertainment sector into state development policies.

2Baba’s role is expected to involve advising on creative projects, supporting cultural events, and driving community-based campaigns in partnership with civil society organisations and relevant ministries.
