Benue Civil Service commits to enhancing Governance through training

The Benue Civil Service Institute is committed to enhancing governance efficiency by providing advanced training and modern tools to civil servants.

The Institute’s Director of Research and Publication,Mark Nyitse, highlighted these efforts during an interview in Makurdi.

Focused on improving civil servants’ skills and knowledge, the institute aims to ensure better execution of government policies.

Additionally, he says plans are underway to host a national conference on homeland security to address the state’s security challenges by bringing experts together to devise new strategies.

In a bid to further enhance productivity, the institute will collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to train drivers and promote digital skills among the youth.

Nyitse emphasized that these initiatives are designed to bridge capacity gaps and facilitate the efficient delivery of government programs in Benue state.

He noted that Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia believes that well-trained civil servants are crucial for successful policy implementation.

The Director explained that the training provided by the institute will be tailored to meet the specific needs of the civil service, ensuring effective governance.

“Moreover, the institute has already conducted training for the newly elected 23 Local Government chairmen to prepare them for their roles”.

He said the  institute is also mandated to organize promotion examinations for civil servants and offers pre-retirement training to help workers transition smoothly into post-service life with ease and comfort.

Nyitse highlighted the institute’s commitment to capacity-building not only for Benue state workers but also for neighboring states like Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi, and the FCT, emphasising continuous training and research aimed to empower workers with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Ahead of the national security conference, Dr. Nyitse emphasized the significance of expert insights in addressing the state’s security challenges.

“The conference which is on homeland security will gather security experts to develop effective strategies to combat insecurity, with the ultimate goal of ensuring safety not just in Benue state but also in Abuja and across Nigeria”.
