The Benue State Police Command has highlighted their achievements and ongoing challenges from April to December 2024.
Despite facing various obstacles, the command successfully ensured a relatively peaceful environment by deploying resources effectively across the state.
In addition to addressing issues like cultism through arrests and non-kinetic methods, such as dialogue advocacy, the command also tackled instances of vigilante justice and witchcraft-related violence.
Multiple suspects, including alleged cultists and individuals involved in a witchcraft-related murder, were apprehended and are set to face legal actions.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Steve Yabanet, expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and other stakeholders for their support.
He also commended the efforts of the police officers and security agents in the state.
The statistics presented during the briefing showcased the significant progress made in combating various crimes, including kidnappings, robberies, and cybercrimes.
With a total of 273 suspects arrested for capital offenses, 20 firearms recovered, and 51 ammunitions seized, the Benue State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and order in the region.
