The Nigerian Government, in partnership with Benue State, has provided relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable individuals in Kwande and Ushongo Local Government Areas of the state.

The distribution, facilitated by Hon. Terseer Ugbor, Member of the National Assembly for Kwande/Ushongo constituency, took place on September 20, 2024, in Jato Aka and Adikpo respectively.

Representatives from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the DSS, the EFCC, and traditional rulers were present to witness the distribution process.

Controversies surrounding the distribution were resolved, and the materials were successfully delivered to Kwande and Ushongo for distribution to those in need.

During the event, Acting Executive Secretary of SEMA, Sir James Iorpuu expressed gratitude to the federal government for their support and emphasized the importance of adhering to proper protocols in future relief efforts.

On his part, Mr. Eugene Nyelong who represented NEMA also commended the Benue State Government for ensuring a fair and transparent distribution process.

The materials, including rice, garri, seasoning cubes, groundnut oil, sachet tomatoes, mosquito nets, wrappers, and mattresses, were distributed based on a sharing formula provided by Hon. Terseer Ugbor, with 60% going to Kwande and 40% to Ushongo Local Government.
