Three books on Animal Welfare and Entrepreneurship: Human Entrepreneurship for Animal Welfare Vol 1 to 3 have been published and presented to the public by the former President Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Gani Enahoro, mni, Vice President, African Veterinary Association (AVA), and former Councillor for Africa at the World Veterinary Association (WVA).

The three volumes were the product of research and practice in animal care and entrepreneurship for 40 years which started in Ilorin, Kwara State as Gan-Rovet and continued in Warri Delta State, where he eventually relocated to when he became a consultant to The Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC) and Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) amongst others.

The publications also delved into private veterinary practice as a poultry consultant and small and large animal veterinary practitioner, and it is full of advice for budding and young veterinarians or animal health practitioners to avoid suffering the same teething difficulties and field mishaps whenever they choose to go into private practice.

Interestingly, the set of books in two volumes – 1 and 2, and the training manual could serve as a valuable tool in mentoring prospective entrepreneurs who are not necessarily veterinary doctors but wish to start private businesses in any of their chosen fields of endeavours.

It is full of cross-cutting exposures in life matters that have spiced all the chapters, to which anyone in business could fall victim.

The foreword for Volume One was written by the world-renowned virologist, Professor Oyewale Tomori, and Volume Two was written by AIG (Dr) Aishatu Abubakar-Baju, who is the first female President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, and Head of the Nigeria Police Force Animal Branch.

The book will serve as an everlasting scholarly resource for teaching veterinary entrepreneurship in Nigerian universities offering veterinary medicine as a course and as a General Studies option for those hoping to be privately employed entrepreneurs in professional disciplines.

Before this book, he had contributed chapters in high-grade academic textbooks such as Livestock Economics And Entrepreneurship, in the “Textbook of Veterinary Public Health And Preventive Medicine”, published ɓy Nigeria’s Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

He also co-authored the Nigerian Society For Animal Production’s 50th Anniversary Commemorative Book (1973-2023).
