Borno: Force Commander presents grants to families of deceased officers

The Force Commander, Multi National Joint Task Force in Borno State, Major General Abdul Ibrahim, has presented grants to families of deceased Officers, Soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force

Major General Ibrahim while briefing pressmen at the Headquarters of Theatre Command Maimalari cantonment in Maiduguri, the state capital said the occasion was to give a token to officers who lost their lives in the course of duty.

He said the same ceremony had been carried out in Niger, Cameroon and Chad with the last leg being organized in Nigeria adding that the ceremony was to show that they care about their troops and their families welfare.

General Ibrahim also call on troops to continue to show resilience in their course of duty.

The Sector 3 Commander, Major Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar said the ceremony was to commend and remember the service of fallen officers, soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force who through their selfless effort has brought peace and security to Borno State, the North East, Nigeria and all the Lake Chad countries.

According to him, the ceremony was conceived to honour those who paid the supreme sacrifice as a result of the operations conducted within sector 3 under the auspices of the  Multi National Joint Task Force.

“The operations include operation Sharan Fage conducted on Nov-Dec 2021 and Operation Lake Sanity 1 conducted from Jan-Dec 2022, although these operations were planned and executed with the protection and safety of officers as paramount, unfortunately, some officers lost their lives. He said no amount of money can bring the deceased back to life, however, the token is meant to provide succour for their families.“

Meanwhile, Theatre Commander Operation, Hadin Kai Major General IS Ali, described the services of the deceased officers as “selfless” adding that they paid the supreme prize with their lives and will be remembered for that.

He also commended the fallen heroes for their contribution to sustaining peace and security in Borno State and its environs.

Major General Ali said that even though, operations are often planned factoring safety of Officers, it is still characterised by risk and loss of loved ones in battle.

He reiterated the role of the Civilian Joint Task Force in their support of the Nigerian Army while urging families of the deceased to appreciate the token presented to them as succour to their families and also make judicious use of it to hold forth

The Theatre Commander expressed the gratitude of the Multi National Joint Task Force while pledging unwavering commitment to restore peace in the country.

Some of the deceased families that received grants are the families of the late Babagana Modu who was killed during operation lake sanity 1,  lance corporal Saidu Dauda, late private Ali Bukar, lance corporal Eme Emanuel, lance corporal Jonh Dogara among others.
