Borno Governor Attends Annual Harvest Festival, Distributes Farm Items to Farmers.

Governor Zulum distributes farm tools to 1,750 farmers from three Local Government Areas of Bayo, Shani and Hawul.
Items shared were, pumping machines, assorted seeds of rice and maize, water-hose, agro chemical and fertilizers among others to 1,000 farmers from Bayo, 500 from Hawul and 250 from Shani benefited from the intervention.
Governor stated that the scheme is to boost irrigation farming and to help the farmers to gain more during the dry season.
Governor Zulum who also graced the the Menwara Festival which is an annual harvest period and also a period where sanctions are been lifted against tree cutting fishing and other activities
Governor Zulum during the occasion expressed his delight for a warm welcome accorded to him by the people of Shani, he also thank other Emir’s who came from a far to grased the occasion, the governor also stressed the need to embraced the tradition and culture who said, ” there every need for us to embraced our culture rather than allowing foreign culture to dominate our rich culural heritage i have directed the Ministry of Information, Home Affairs and Culture to design a programme that will promote the cultural heritage of the state, the state Ministry of Education to come up with plans that will inculcate Borno’s cultural heritage to students right from primary schools”.
Zulum also pointed out that his administration within the remaining years of his tenure will focus on five key priority areas, these include, security, healthcare service delivery, agriculture, education and youths and women empowerment.
Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has ordered the state Ministry of Local Government and Emirate Affairs to revisit the verification exercise conducted for local government staff in order to address all genuine concerns raised.
Zulum said, “I am a human being, forgive me where I have erred. We will strive to ensure that we fulfil our responsibilities. Our intentions are genuine and we can never compromise the development of our people and their welfare. I have directed the Ministry of Local Government and Emirate Affairs to revisit the verification exercise to address all genuine concerns”, Zulum said.
The Emir of Shani His Royal highness Alh Nasiru Mohammed Mailafiya who thank the Borno State Governor for attending the 2021 Menwara and all other dignitaries at the occasion, the emir who said the Menwara is also a festival that ushared youth boys and female into adulthood the emir further said culture is the total way of life of the people. The Emir solicited for a standard accommodation and food catering for the number of people coming from near and far to witness the occasion.
